SunPower is proud to be the winner of the first annual Sustainability Award from pv magazine. We strive to continue to produce panels as clean as the energy they produce. Read more about our sustainability practices.

Our Beneficial by Design philosophy
SunPower has a closed-loop sustainability strategy that drives our business practices at every stage of our product lifecycle and beyond, extending to our employees and communities around the world.

|
We proactively work with socially equitable and environmentally vigilant suppliers, and we regularly assess our supply chain for compatible eco-friendly practices. |
SunPower® solar panels have a uniquely short Energy Payback Time. Plus, SunPower employs an unmatched Light on Land multi-purpose land-use policy that enhances the use of natural resources and minimizes impact on surroundings. |
|
We endeavour to make smart choices about the materials we use…and don't use, including seeking out "conflict-free" materials and avoiding materials of concern that could result in hazardous waste. |
We take responsibility for our products throughout their lifecycle and are committed to providing appropriate reuse and recycling options for our products. |
|
We work to reduce waste at every opportunity, including taking water conservation measures and seeking Zero Waste to Landfill and LEED certifications for our own factories. |
We also work to empower communities through education and by providing energy to those in need. |
|
We source heavy materials locally whenever possible and incentivise our employees to reduce their CO2 footprints. |
Cradle to Cradle Certified™
SunPower is the world’s first solar company to earn the prestigious Cradle to Cradle Certified™- Bronze designation for our SunPower® Maxeon® panels manufactured in our facilities in Mexico, France and the Philippines for our environmental stewardship and sustainable manufacturing practices within the facilities.
Cradle to Cradle Certified™ is a certification mark licensed by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute.
Measuring our Impact
Not only do our products help others reduce their carbon footprint, but we measure and reduce our own environmental impact.
Going Landfill-free
Our facilities in Mexico have earned the solar industry’s first landfill-free verifications from NSF Sustainability. Take a peek inside our landfill-free plant in Mexicali, Mexico, to see how we do it.
Quenching the Thirst for a Better Life
